Rubber Profile

Overview

Rubber profiles are extruded rubber sections produced in continuous lengths with a consistent cross-sectional shape — D-sections, P-sections, T-sections, square, rectangular, circular hollow, and custom profiles. They are used as sealing strips on doors, hatches, machine panels, and enclosures; as edge trim on metal sheet and glass; as vibration isolation strips; and as bump stops and protective edging. The profile shape and rubber compound are chosen together to match the sealing pressure, compression, and chemical environment of the application. Common compounds include EPDM (for weather and outdoor sealing), NBR (for oil-environment sealing), and silicone (for food, pharmaceutical, and high/low temperature applications).

Things to confirm before ordering

• Profile shape — D-section, P-section, T-section, square, hollow round, or custom; confirm the cross-section required for your sealing groove or surface.
• Rubber compound — EPDM for weather/outdoor, NBR for oil environments, silicone for food/pharmaceutical/temperature extremes, Neoprene for general/marine use.
• Hardness — softer profiles (lower Shore A) compress with less force and seal at lower contact pressure; harder profiles are more durable. Confirm required hardness.
• Length required — profiles are typically supplied in standard lengths or cut to length; confirm total length required.
• Adhesive backing — some profiles are available with self-adhesive backing for easy installation; specify if required.
