Overview

Plastic bolts and nuts provide non-metallic fastening solutions for applications where metal fasteners would corrode, conduct electricity, interfere with magnetic fields, or contaminate a process. The most common materials are Nylon (PA66) for general-purpose use, PVC for chemical resistance in wet environments, PP for broader chemical resistance, and PEEK for high-temperature and high-chemical-resistance applications. Plastic fasteners are lighter than metal, do not rust, are non-magnetic, and are electrical insulators — properties that make them essential in electronics assembly (preventing shorts and EMI), chemical processing (where stainless steel fasteners corrode in chlorinated or acidic environments), food processing (no metal contamination risk), and marine environments.

Things to confirm before ordering

• Material — Nylon for general use, PVC or PP for chemical/wet environments, PEEK for high temperature and aggressive chemicals.
• Thread size and standard — confirm M-size (metric) or imperial thread; and whether hex bolt, socket head, or other head style is needed.
• Nut type — standard hex nut, flange nut, or wing nut; confirm which is required.
